Preparation for Licensure (ATI Medical-Surgical CAT)

There were many things that went well during my completion of the ATI Medical-Surgical CAT. I was surprised by the amount of questions I answered correctly and I worked hard on using critical thinking skills and “thinking like a nurse” throughout the quiz. There were some things that did not go quite as well. For instance, the test took a considerable amount of time and questions, and I found myself getting distracted. I also realized that not only did the test itself feel prolonged, but I spent too much time on each question, which made me overthink my answer selection. In the future, I plan to take breaks when I notice myself getting distracted, and read the question so that I fully understand it, without spending copious amounts of time on each question. This adaptive quiz helped me realize what I needed to change and how I can better prepare for the next assessment, and ultimately the NCLEX.
