Preparation for Licensure and Transition to Professional Practice

Overall, this semester prepared me thoroughly for my nursing career. When it comes to passing the NCLEX, I feel more confident because of the ATI assessments I have taken throughout the duration of this course. After reviewing the Individual Performance Profiles for each ATI assessment, both practice and proctored, I realize that my skills for taking this type of assessment have improved immensely. Though the scores did not progressively get better, I now have the ability to read the question thoroughly without taking too much time to answer each question, and I do not get as easily distracted when taking these tests. I was also able to note questions I answered incorrectly and identify the correct answer by using resources from this course. This includes ATI Remediations, help from the instructor, and the ATI eBook. By learning about why I answered a question incorrectly, I hope to retain the knowledge I learned to help on the NCLEX in the future.

Over the course of this semester, I identified some flaws that may impact my practice. The most pertinent was ineffective time management. There were times in the beginning of the semester when I was unable to complete assignments on time, and even forget due dates. Fortunately, because of this course, I was able to better manage my time and balance schoolwork and other aspects of my life. This allowed me to get all of my assignments in on time and still have time for other self-care habits to take place. My ability to manage time effectively when completing assignments and during assessments will help me immensely in passing the NCLEX, and in the nursing practice.
