I chose a registered nurse who grew up in my hometown for my interviewee for my Leadership Course. I have known her for a very long time. She has been best friends with my sister since a young age, and has since become one of my best friends. Emily is one of the only registered nurses I know who is close to my age and available any time to talk or lend me some advice. Everyone who crosses paths with this nurse has nothing but good things to say about her. She is smart, fun, easy-going, and helpful. She has made some very prestigious accomplishments throughout her nursing education and into her career, but is extremely humble. Emily graduated at the top of her class in her graduate program at Northeastern University, and is now on her way to become a nurse practitioner.
I consider Emily to be one of my biggest motivators. I would describe her as a leader not just in nursing, but in every aspect of her life. I remember when I was young and I used to think she was so much older than me and knew all about the world. Throughout nursing school, I have found myself sending her a message or giving her a call every time I needed an explanation or a bit of encouragement. Though I see and talk to her often, I thought this interview would be a great time to learn about Emily’s journey to becoming an RN, and eventually an NP. In my preparation for this interview, I realized how little I truly know about her nursing side, and would love to know more about how she decided to become a nurse. I also plan to ask her how she was able to surpass all other students in her program, and how she is able to effortlessly understand all aspects of nursing care and carry them out in everyday life.
