Below is an organized list of my favorite revision strategies. These techniques helped me immensely throughout the English Composition class and I plan to use them in the future for other projects as well. My favorite active reading strategy is glossing the text. This is something I have practiced for a long time, however I was not aware that it had a particular name and was used in college-level courses. My favorite brainstorming strategy is making a columned list for each article or topic I plan to outline in my essay and connecting the ideas to form potential claim sentences. As for drafting strategies, I prefer to make an outline for each paragraph and jot down ideas that I could discuss for each. I strongly favor peer review for revision because outside perspectives are always informative. My polishing strategies mainly consist of checking the paper for overall flow, as well as making sure all aspects of MLA are present and correct. After learning about these techniques, I began using them in each of my essays, in and outside of this course, and plan to do so in the future.
