After perusing the chapters from They Say/ I Say, choose to read the chapter titled, “So What, Who Cares? – Saying Why it Matters”. For the most part, the writers made the point that there needs to be supporting details that back up your claim. I chose to read Chapter 7 because backing up my thesis statement with claim sentences is something I often struggle with. I feel as if my claims don’t exactly help support what I am saying. They often just introduce an article or add other thoughts on the topic, rather than help persuade readers to join my reasoning behind my thesis. I most definitely plan on using the suggestions and helpful tips I read about in “So What, Who Cares? – Saying Why it Matters” when revising my free draft. Hopefully, it’ll focus my claims and make my essay flow in a more clear way.
